Lana Manganiello is living the dream: spending time near the water, playing with kids and helping parents get some Me Time. As an optimist, she doesn’t despise much – except the traffic in Los Angeles. Read on to hear about her pop-up childcare program and the advice that keeps her going.
Tell us in a couple words what motivated you to start your business?
I had a baby and thought there should be more places that had high quality child care on site so that I could continue doing all the things I loved to do before I had a baby. All my new mom friends felt the same way so I thought I should try and see how I could make it a business.
How do children benefit from your classes?
Kids have a blast in our classes. We wanted to make sure that the care that the kids are receiving is excellent and thought that creating an engaging class would be the best way to do that. Kids get a chance to socialize with other kids, move their bodies, explore their creativity and learn something new. Parents also totally benefit from our drop off on-site classes!
What has been the most fulfilling part of your job?
It has been amazing getting to watch these incredible little people change and develop each week. It's also been great seeing new parents go from survival mode into a happy parenting mode.
What is the biggest challenge in your opinion when running your own business?
Running a business is so fun and exciting because of all the opportunity that exists and the many ways to find and create success. The biggest challenge for me has been narrowing our focus and efforts.
What was your favorite thing to do as a child?
As a kid, I loved being in water with my friends. Living in Orange County, CA, we were always at the pool, at the local water park or at the beach.
If you could have a superpower, what would it be?
Flying! (I'm so over driving in LA)
