What’s your favorite kid-friendly brunch spot in your neighborhood?
The most child friendly brunch spot in our neighborhood, the West Village, is Morandi. They are so nice and make it extra easy as they have high chairs, crayons, and plastic cups with lids. The staff is extremely friendly, patient and fun. Plus, the secret is out so other families are there as well which makes it a lot less stressful if Pippa is loud.
Favorite playgrounds in your area?
The park in the North-West portion of Washington Square Park. It is made for little ones in the 1-2 age range thus they can do a lot more on their own like the slide and it is a bit calmer than some of the others.
What are your children’s favorite activities?
Pippa loves all her classes like Free to be Under 3 and she is starting soccer this month which we can’t wait to see. For fun day trips, we really like the Children’s Museum of the East End.
What three things do you always pack for your child when you go on vacation?
Besides the practical necessities, we always bring Pippa’s Jellycat pink bunny lovey (and a backup!), a stack of Duplo Lego, stickers and some squeezy packs for emergencies.
What’s your favorite way to unwind?
A quiet bath with a candle and maybe some tunes. I pretend I’m at a spa without the cost!
Favorite rainy day activity…
Baking chocolate chip cookies. It’s really fun and Pippa gets better at it each successive time. The only challenge comes when she wants to eat like 10 of the finished product.
One thing you miss about your pre-parenting life…
It used to be much easier to pop out for a bite or take a vacation. Now it is much more of an ordeal and expense, and involves way more planning.
Favorite bedtime book…
What do you do when your child goes to bed?
I check my work email, have dinner with my husband, Charlie, and on some nights, we’ll order a bottle of wine from Minibar Delivery and then watch TV together. Right now, we are watching Season 2 of Masters of None on Netflix.
Best tantrum tactic…
I attempt to distract Pippa or sing The Wheels on the Bus but it definitely doesn’t always work.
How do you make mom friends?
I joined a great seedlings group for working Moms in the West Village and have made some great friends that way.
